Dr. Santor is a clinical psychologist with 25 years of experience who works with children, adolescents, and adults dealing with a variety of mental health difficulties. In addition to treating mood (i.e., depression, dysthymia), anxiety (i.e., GAD, Panic, OCD, and phobias), stress (e.g., at school and work) and a number of behavioural problems (e.g., substance misuse, procrastination, performance anxiety, etc.), Dr. Santor also has extensive experience treating relationship and marriage difficulties, workplace stress, workplace coaching, as well as injury-related pain, trauma and loss of functioning.
Dr. Santor has worked in a variety of clinical, workplace and school settings, including the Mood Disorders Team at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, which specializes in the assessment and treatment of youth mental health difficulties, as well as the Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health, where he developed mental health resources for educators, parents and students (see www.myhealthmagazine.net), and the Upper Canada District School Board, where he delivers dozens of workshops on bullying, dealing with stress and mental illness to students, staff and parents every year.
Dr. Santor received his B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Western Ontario and obtained his PhD in Clinical Psychology from McGill University. He completed his clinical training in Toronto at the Clarke Institute (now Centre for Addictions and Mental Health) and has formal training in a range of assessment and treatment skills, including both Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy. Dr. Santor is also a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa, where he works on developing school and workplace mental health programs, training doctoral candidates in cognitive and interpersonal psychotherapy, and runs a number of research programs investigating the natural course of symptoms as well as the benefits of advanced technology for the treatment of mental health difficulties. He regularly speaks to parents and professionals on a number of mental health topics.
